A payment that is already a whole amount adds nothing. A month here is a year's savings divided by 12. Not every app offers multipliers, and some cap round-ups, so check your own app.
How round-ups work
Each time you pay by card, the app rounds the payment up to the nearest pound and moves the difference, your spare change, into savings. You buy a coffee for £2.60, the app rounds it up to £3.00 and moves 40p into your savings. Some apps let you multiply the round-up, for example two or three times, to save faster.
Things to think about
Round-ups come out of your everyday balance, so keep an eye on it if money is tight. Check where the savings go, whether they earn interest, and how easily you can take them back out.
