How mining income is worked out

Bitcoin finds a block about every ten minutes, around 144 a day, and each block pays a fixed subsidy plus transaction fees. Since the April 2024 halving the subsidy is 3.125 BTC. On average your share of that is your hash rate divided by the whole network's hash rate.

Why electricity decides it

A mining machine runs all day, so its power use times your electricity price is usually the biggest cost. As the network hash rate rises your share shrinks, and the subsidy halves about every four years, so a machine that pays today may not later. Check live figures before buying hardware.
