Why leavers matter more than joiners
Every month some members leave. If a tenth of members leave each month, you have to win a tenth of your base again just to stand still. Small cuts in the share who leave often grow income faster than a bigger marketing push.
Monthly or yearly?
Monthly memberships are easier to say yes to. Yearly ones bring cash in up front and fewer people leave, because they only decide once a year. Many clubs offer both, with a small saving on the yearly plan.
