Crypto spread calculator
Find the hidden cost between a crypto app's buy and sell price: the spread as a percentage, what buying and selling straight back would cost you, and how far the price must rise before you break even. Free, no sign-up, nothing leaves your browser.
Use the buy and sell prices your app shows at the same moment; the starting prices are only an example. This is a calculator, not advice: crypto prices can fall as well as rise.
Where the spread hides
Many crypto apps show one price to buy and a lower price to sell. The gap is the spread, and it is a cost even when the app says it charges no fee. If you bought and sold straight away, you would get back less than you put in, by about the size of the spread plus any fees.
Comparing apps and exchanges
Spreads are usually narrower on large coins and on exchanges with lots of buyers and sellers, and wider on smaller coins, in quiet hours and in simple buy buttons. To compare two places fairly, check the buy and sell price at the same moment and add any fee on top.
