Fees are charged twice
Most exchanges take a fee when you buy and again when you sell, often with a spread on top. A trade that looks like a small gain on the price chart can be a loss once both fees are counted.
Know your break-even price
The break-even price is where the sale covers what you paid plus both fees. Anything above it is profit; anything below is a loss, whatever the chart says.
