How to register your own domain and put your platform on it
By SendPay Business · · Updated · 2 min read
Your platform starts at app.sendpaybusiness.com/p/your-name so you can launch straight away. A domain of your own is what makes it feel like a company rather than a page. This is how to get one and connect it.
Choosing the name
Short, easy to say, and matching your platform's name. A .com or .co.uk is what UK customers expect. Check the name is not already a trademark in financial services; a name clash is expensive after launch.
Registering it
Any registrar works. Register it in your own name, with your own email as the contact, so you always control it. Turn on auto-renew. Every platform built here includes a domain we register in your name and renew while you are with us, so you can also simply let us do it.
Pointing it at your platform
A domain finds a site through DNS records. For your platform you add one CNAME record at your registrar that points your domain at our hosting, and we issue the certificate so it loads over https. If you already use the domain for email, its mail records stay exactly as they are.
- Open the DNS settings at your registrar.
- Add a CNAME for www pointing at the hosting address we give you.
- Add the records for the bare domain if you want it to work without www.
- Tell us the domain in your console; the certificate is issued automatically.
- Wait for DNS to update, usually under an hour, sometimes up to a day.
Email on your domain
you@yourbrand.com is included with every platform: we create the mailboxes and set the mail records for you.
Build it
Create your own financial platform.
Pick a template, name it, brand it, preview every page before you pay. Your brand, your users, your fees.
Build my platform →Questions people ask
Can I use a domain I already own?
Yes. Add the CNAME record and tell us the domain in your console.
Will changing DNS break my email?
No, if you only add the records for the website and leave the mail records alone. We check them with you.
Do I have to buy a domain to launch?
No. Your platform runs at app.sendpaybusiness.com/p/your-name from day one, and a domain in your name is included with the build.
Can I move a domain I already use for email?
Yes. Only the website records change; the mail records stay exactly as they are, and we check them with you before anything is saved.
How can SendPay Business help with my domain?
A domain in your name is included with every platform: we register it, point it at your site, issue the certificate and renew it while you are with us. If you already have one, we connect it.
