International transfer charges calculator
See what a SWIFT transfer costs you and what the recipient actually gets under each charge option, OUR, SHA and BEN, once your bank, intermediary banks and their bank have taken their fees. Free, no sign-up, nothing leaves your browser.
Use the fees your own bank and the recipient's bank quote; the starting figures are only an example. This keeps everything in one currency and leaves out any exchange rate markup.
OUR, SHA and BEN
When you send a SWIFT transfer, your bank asks who pays the charges. OUR means you pay them all, so the recipient should get the full amount. SHA means the charges are shared: you pay your own bank's fee and the recipient bears the rest. BEN means the recipient pays everything, taken out of the money before it reaches them.
Why transfers arrive short
If your bank has no direct link with the recipient's bank, the payment passes through one or more intermediary banks, and each can take a fee straight out of the payment. So the recipient may get less than you sent, even if you paid your own bank's fee. Choosing OUR can help, but not every bank can guarantee it, so tell the recipient what fees may apply.
