A launch day plan for your own money app
By SendPay Business · · 2 min read
Launch day is not about going viral. It is about getting the people who need your app to try it once, and making that first try go well. Here is a plan for the week before, the day itself and the week after.
The week before
Get everything ready so launch day is about people, not fixing things.
- Make your first payment yourself, start to finish, on a phone.
- Ask three friends to sign up and pay you. Fix anything that confuses them.
- Write one clear line about why your app beats the big name your people use now.
- Tell the admins of the groups you'll post in, and ask if they will share it.
- Line up five people who have promised to try it on the day.
Launch day
Be around all day. Speed of reply is your biggest advantage over a big company.
- Post in your groups in the morning, with your one line and a link.
- Message everyone who promised to try it.
- Reply to every question within minutes, in the language people wrote in.
- Share the first real payment (with permission) so people see it works.
The week after
Most users are won after launch day, not on it.
- Call or message every person who signed up but didn't pay, and ask what stopped them.
- Thank everyone who paid, and ask each one to invite one person.
- Fix the top complaint, then tell everyone you fixed it.
- Count signups, first payments and second payments. The second payment is the one that matters.
Build it
Create your own financial platform.
Pick a template, name it, brand it, preview every page before you pay. Your brand, your users, your fees.
Build my platform →Questions people ask
When is the best day to launch?
Pick a day when your people are around and online, and when you are free all day to answer questions. For many communities that's a weekday evening or a weekend, not a busy work morning.
Should I run adverts on launch day?
Not at first. Posts in groups your people already trust, and personal messages, bring in better first users than adverts.
Is there a step-by-step plan I can follow?
Yes. The free launch checklist takes you from picking your people and naming your app to setting fees, going live and winning your first ten customers.
